What is your perception of a Messiah?

1. A Messiah is welcomed and makes a grand entrance on Earth.
The conception of Jesus was a humiliation; and His birth attracted danger.

2. A Messiah stays in beautiful palaces.
A manger is where Jesus first laid His human head.

3. A Messiah reflects the splendour of a king.
Jesus spoke Aramaic, a language only lowly people would speak in those days.

4. A Messiah is respected.
Jesus was accused of blasphemy, was openly mocked and was regarded as weak.

5. A Messiah does not suffer and brings prosperity to mankind.
The cross - the worst tool for execution - was where Jesus died on.

6. A Messiah is good-looking and has perfect facial features.
Isaiah the prophet said that Jesus has no physical beauty.

7. A Messiah comes from pure royal bloodline.
Rahab the harlot was one of the names written in the book of genealogy of Jesus.

Is God's kind of Messiah your Messiah?

Harry Potter

I'm not much of a fan but I did read the books and watched the movies. If I can still remember, the Harry Potter craze began when I was about 13 or 14. Didn't bother to read at that time 'cos I didn't see the point of reading a children's book and I kept reading emails that J.K. Rowling is actually a witch...blah blah...stuff like that. Last year, I was at Hoey Theen's house and I noticed that she had a full collection in her book shelf. It was the holidays so I thought why not? Borrow those "witchcraft" books to read during my free time and see what the fuss about this wizard boy is all about. Yup, as you can see I was a laggard in the Harry Potter department. I remember stupidly asking my friends if they had read Goblet of Fire and the response I got was, "Dude, I read those stuff when I was 12". The 4th book onwards got boring in my opinion but I still continued reading the rest anyway.
.
When I read about all the hype surrounding the final book I didn't really take notice. Afterall, it's ONLY a book. Although I must admit that my curiosity for the ending of the series almost led me to Carrefour. Found out today that all copies were sold out at Tesco and Carrefour. "Oh well, maybe I'll get the reprint. It'll be cheaper anyway". Curiosity finally led me to texting Hoey Theen if she already has the final book. "If she has, maybe I could borrow it from her after she's done". Come to think of it, I borrowed all the Harry Potter books and DVDs from her. Haha.
Thanks sis for becoming my Harry Potter library.
.
Oh and by the way, she'll be passing the book to me tommorow. =p

Good Charlotte. Too good to be true.

We know Good Charlotte ain't the best role models for our kids with their tattoos and eye liner but they are capable of writing some spiritually influenced songs; all thanks to their lead singer, Joel Madden being brought up in a Christian home. I really liked the song from their previous album, "We believe" which talks about a love that falls down like rain and whose forgiveness washes away our pain. The other day I was flipping through channels and MTV was showing their recent concert held in Malaysia. The lead singer siad something from the Bible which caught my attention just when I was about to change the channel again. Lets just say I'm not really into Good Charlotte. They sang "The River" after Joel's "preaching". Haha. Anyway here's the lyrics to "The River" and you can see for yourself how spiritual it is. It delights me to know that beneath the worldly music industry, God is still working down there.

As I walk through the valley
of the shadow of LA
The footsteps that were next to me
have gone their separate ways
I've seen enough now
to know that beautiful things
don't always stay that way
I've done enough now
to know this beautiful place
isn't everything they say
.
I heard that evil comes disguised
Like a city of angels
I'm walking towards the light
.
Baptized in the river
I've seen a vision of my life
And I wanna be delivered
In the city was a sinner
I've done a lot of things wrong
But I swear I'm a believer
Like the prodigal son
I was out on my own
Now I'm trying to find my way back home
Baptized in the river
I'm delivered
I'm delivered
.
[M.Shadows:]

You're from a small town
You're gonna grow up fast underneath these lights
Down in Hollywood
on the boulevard the dead come back to life
To the praying Mother
And the worried Father
Let your children go
If they come back
They'll come home stronger
And if they don't you'll know
.
They say that evil comes disguised
Like a city of angels
I'm walking towards the light
.
Baptized in the river
I've seen a vision of my life
And I wanna be delivered
In the city was a sinner
I've done a lot of things wrong
But I swear I'm a believer
Like the prodigal son
I was out on my own
Now I'm trying to find my way back home
Baptized in the river
I'm delivered
I'm delivered
.
Baptized in the river (on my own)
Baptized in the river (on my own)
I wanna be delivered(on my own, on my own)
Baptized in the river (on my own)
I wanna be delivered
Baptized in the river (on my own)
I wanna be delivered
Baptized in the river (on my own)
I wanna be delivered
I confess I'm a sinner
I've seen a vision of my life
And I wanna be delivered!

Bring it on Utah

Spurs are through to the Western Conference Finals! What a game it was against the Suns in Game 6. Ginobili is the best thing to come out from Argentina since Maradona. That's a possible playoffs MVP there. Duncan was awesome, a career high 9 blocks! The Spurs may not have the athletism like Phoenix but they certainly can defend. Gotta give credit to Nash for the late comeback and Stoudamire for flying in all sort of angles though. It was a very tight and dramatic series.

Here's how I picture the Spurs at the end of the NBA season. Oh and Meng Yoe, you can eat your own socks. =p
